Representing Stirchley Residents
Thank you to everyone who attended September’s meeting – and to those who attended the Stirchley’s Celebrating Communities Fund too.
The minutes from the meeting on Monday 13th September are available here.
In September you get two for the price of one! As well as the usual Forum meeting Karen Cheney will be leading the selection process for the first part of the Celebrating Communities Fund (info after agenda here).
For this meeting we will be trying something different in that Rob Morris (our Chair) and some of the Committee members will be in the hall whilst everyone else is on Zoom. This is to enable us to try out the technology with a view to having hybrid meetings (in the Hall and on Zoom) going forward.
There is a special item on the Agenda this month as the Forum has been made aware of a proposal to move the post office currently on the corner of Dogpool Lane further up Pershore Road to the Nisa store (almost opposite the BP garage). There is an opportunity to make your views known.
Although it is not in Stirchley we know that many Stirchley residents will be interested in (and affected by) development of the former Fitness First site. A planning application has been lodged and can be found here.

As part of the Pioneer Places initiative we have been invited to challenge Birmingham City Council. At a recent meeting Cllr Thompson (Cabinet member) emphasised how important it was that the Council continued to be challenged around its commitment to Localisation and for the council to learn from what hasn’t worked well and how it could have been done better.
Councillor Thompson has just set up a Localisation Star Chamber – where service areas will present what they have been doing that contributes to the Localisation agenda as well being challenged as to what else could be done
Pioneer Places have been asked to contribute into the star chamber process with the Challenge Case Studies.
Below is a pro forma form which we have been asked to complete so bring your ideas to the meeting (we can submit more than one form – the more the merrier).
