Stirchley at Heritage Open Day

On Saturday 18th September Stirchley Baths and Stirchley Library will be open for Heritage Open Day. Come along and take a look – or offer to help out on the day.
As a bonus this year the Church of the Ascension on Pineapple Grove will be open on Sunday afternoon (19th) and there will be tea on the Green. The Dads Lane Estate is nearly 100 years old, as is the original St Hugh’s Church. The ‘new’ church is almost 50 years old!

Stirchley History Group have been given a Ten Acres and Stirchley Cooperative Society confectionery order form (probably from the 1950s).
If you know how to make the following cakes please do get in touch;
Feathers, Cherry Wine, Boston Tart or a Pixie Pudding
The Heritage Open Days theme is Edible England so it would be great to have something to show visitors and recipes to share!

March update

There are a couple of items of information that were raised at our meeting on 8th March and a Licensing application that has been brought to our notice – see below.

See also information and joining instructions for Cllr Locke’s Ward Forum meeting which is tomorrow (17th) at 7pm.

Baby Aid Birmingham is based in Stirchley but covers the whole city. Further information can be found at https://www.babyaidbirmingham.co.uk/

PCSO Blackford very much hopes that he or a colleague will be able to attend Neighbourhood Forum meetings in the future. He has sent through the following information for contact;

For a crime at the time it is always 999, if not an emergency 101 or go on line web chat, this means that the matter you are reporting is recorded and gets a log number  and the team will then know about it. If you just want to contact the team the other way is the team e-mail address and it is bournville@west-midlands.pnn.police.uk

Stirchley Ward Forum meeting

We wanted to help advertise the upcoming Stirchley Ward Forum meeting. This is not the monthly neighbourhood forum, instead it’s a meeting run by Birmingham City Council and Councillor Mary Locke.

The meeting will take place on Wednesday 19th February at 7pm at The Grace Church, Dell Road B30 2HZ.

Residents are invited to come and meet our local councillor and join in discussions with the cabinet member for street scene & parks. There will also be an update on the ward plan.

A reminder again that this isn’t the our neighbourhood forum meeting (that’s Monday 10th February), but an additional meeting. Hopefully we’ll see you at both!
