Representing Stirchley Residents
At last week’s Stirchley Ward meeting, convened by Councillor Mary Locke, there was a presentation from West Midlands Rail Executive updating on Pineapple Station. Many people asked for the presentation to be shared and so we have uploaded it here.
After the success of her last event, Councillor Mary Locke has organised another Jobs Fair for Wednesday 25th October from 10am – 2pm.
The previous event had over 100 people who were interested in local vacancies for jobs and employers from the NHS, police and a number of local businesses in the area were all in attendance. This event is already proving popular with employers and a number of organisations have signed up to attend.
The event will take place at Stirchley Baths and is open to anyone looking for work in the Stirchley, Bournville, Cotteridge, Selly Oak and wider Birmingham area.
The Stirchley Neighbourhood Forum returns on Monday 11th September for its regular monthly meeting. As usual, the meeting will take place at Stirchley Community Church at 7.30pm.
At September’s meeting, Lee Hands representing Tricas Construction Ltd will be attending to discuss the building of the Stirchley Cooperative Development at the corner of Pershore Road and Hunts Road (next to the British Oak pub). Lee will be here to answer your questions and listen to any concerns.
There will also be a planning update and a chance for networking and to raise any community matters with fellow residents.

Councillor Mary Locke is organising a collection for the B30 Food Bank on Saturday 12th August.
Volunteers will be collecting donations of food from Bournville Lane and Lea House, Mary Vale, Charlotte, Clonmel, Elm Tree and Ash Tree roads from 1pm. If you live on one of those streets but won’t be in / able to answer the door, it will be fine to leave things outside your door and the team will collect.
Please ensure nothing contains alcohol and that donations are not over-sized. As much as the Food Bank appreciated the donations, they will not open packets so cannot break items down into smaller sets. Please also ensure that you do not donate anything that requires specialist equipment or is fresh/needs using urgently.

The Stirchley Forum typically takes place on the second Monday of every month at the Stirchley Community Centre, from 7.30pm.
There are a few exceptions to this, including August when we take a summer break and occasionally in other months if there are a number of Bank Holidays.
